Hillsborough County
Legislative Delegation Chairman John Legg (R-Trinity) and the rest of the
delegation welcomed the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) to the Florida
State Capitol on Thursday. Additionally, Senator John Legg introduced Senate
Resolution 1680 honoring the Academy. Viraf Sarkari, Director – IIFA
& Wizcraft and Indian actress and Friend of IIFA, Preity Zinta were on hand
to accept the honour.
The Hillsborough County
leaders welcomed IIFA to Tallahassee, Florida celebrating ‘Bollywood Day’ at
the Capitol. Several groups of dancers from north Florida performed for
visitors, including Indian actress Preity Zinta.
Speaking at the conference,
Zinta said, “The only time I think for all actors to interact with their fans
from different countries is IIFA, so if you're not going to go there, your bad
luck.”
“We
are very excited to be hosting our 15th IIFA Awards in the State of
Florida,” said Viraf Sarkari, one of IIFA’s directors. “I thank Senator Legg
for bringing us together to discuss the exciting impact that film has in our
lives.”
The
IIFA Weekend and Awards 2014 will be held in Tampa, Florida from April 23rd
– 26th.
