Deepika can’t do without her Indian Tea and Coffee

It is a lesser known fact that Deepika Padukone is extremely fond of Indian beverages, tea and filter coffee.
She has been a fan of Filter coffee since her early days in Bangalore and tea is something that she has developed fondness towards since her stay in Mumbai.
Deepika requires her daily dose of these beverages and carries her supply with her while travelling too.
The actress who has been away from the city for months now ran out of her supply of the beverages.
It was one of the few things that Deepika made sure to carry back with her while returning to LA to continue shooting for xXx : The Return of Xander Cage.
In her brief stay in the city, Deepika restocked her supply of tea and filter coffee which she had ran out of while in LA.
Deepika made sure to carry these essentials with her back for her further stay in LA.
Currently in the news for starting trends with her Hollywood cast, it is just a matter of time that her Hollywood team would be treated with Indian beverages by Deepika.

How Aishwarya Rai Bachchan transformed her looks in 'Sarbjit'

Director Omung Kumar share on how he transformed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Sarbjit

National Award-winning director Omung Kumar’s upcoming biopic ‘Sarbjit’ starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadda and Darshan Kumar has already created quite a buzz amongst fans courtesy it’s emotionally moving posters.

The film will be narrated through Sarbjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur’s eyes who went door to door, knocking for her brother’s justice and freedom for 23 yrs.
Opening up on the look of his lead actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the director shared that one of his biggest challenge was to make Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ‘not’ look like Aishwarya in Sarbjit. With that thought he decided to start the film with the final look and recalls that when the actress looked into the mirror to see a woman with grey hair, wrinkles and glasses staring back, even she exclaimed in amazement for her unbelievable appearance.
Talking about it further he said, “Maybe one day I will make a film that will showcase the beautiful woman Ash is, but Sarbjit was a film that went beyond looks and glamour to focus on grit. My biggest triumph was when fans came to the Wagah Border or the India Gate for Ash’s autograph and failing to recognize her, would start looking around for her,” he laughs.

Well Kept Secret- Arjun Kapoor Was a Producer of ‘Ki&Ka’

It’s a pleasant surprise, to say the least. We’ve heard from reliable sources that Arjun Kapoor had turned a producer, somewhat clandestinely, for ‘Ki&Ka’. The versatile young actor shared the risk of making an off beat romantic film with it’s producers, a bet that has paid off rich dividends.

Unlike most stars of the current generation, Arjun decided to keep his engagement as a producer low key. To him, the film mattered above all else. But because he belongs to a legacy of quality, mainstream films produced by his father & his family, Arjun’s expertise came in handy for ‘Ki&Ka’. Said a source from the film’s unit, “Having assisted filmmakers before, Arjun is a complete producer’s star, cooperative and a complete team player, with a fair understanding of film finance and budgeting.”

Taking a silent but substantial risk on the film, Arjun is contented with its success today. This one now lays down the path for bigger things to come for this popular young star.

FAN is a straight lift off from my COPY-RIGHT SCRIPT 'Abhineta' - Mahesh Doijode

I had narrated this script to YASH ji in 1997 & year after in 1998 to Shah Rukh Khan - Mahesh Doijode

Scripts are generally registered with Film Writers Association, for the simple reason of security of the story and script writers. But sadly, the trend has changed recently with renowned actors, after listening to stories, change their attitude and then lift someone else's baby they work with their writing team and created the script of the original story which belonged to the earlier writer.

Here comes Writer | Producer Mahesh Doijode who thought of raising his voice against film Titled "Abhineta" which was his Baby and now he had started scouting locations for his film.

Writer | Producer Mahesh Doijode told in an exclusive conversation to Priyanka Raina, "I had narrated this script to YASH ji in 1997 on the sets of Dil To Paagal Hai, amd then year after in 1998 had narrated to Shah Rukh Khan which he liked . But that time story was just first draft. I registered ABHINETA in Film Writers Association in 1999 .

"In 2005  At Prestigious FICCI FRAMES,  I  had a brief narration with Yash ji again & by the time I had more variations in my script. Yash ji liked the idea & was ready top produce, Only thing I told since I am a Producer too so will CoProduce it. May be this they must not have wanted. But they should have told me for story  Since ABHINETA was my Baby" ,  Mahesh Doijode  Adds

I will share the final evidences by court , once get approval by them. They are matching story and till now its same story

As per industry sources, this is the second time that it has happened with a SRK film. Earlier too, there were reports about Ra One where the disgruntled story writer was ultimately made a member of the production house team.

Subhash Ghai encourages the need of more Kid's Content

Filmmaker and visionary of Whistling Woods International, Subhash Ghai recently attended the prominent FICCI Frames Media & Entertainment Industry Conclave. The legendary director was a speaker amongst many of the top personalities like Ashish Kulkarni, Mukesh Khanna, M.Srinivasan, Rajiv Chilaka, Nishit Takia and Nina Jajpuria  who had gathered to discuss their opinions on the most crucial issue currently prevailing that India needs Kid's Content Act.

The owner of the most established filmmaking and  media institute in Mumbai, Subhash Ghai commenced the discussion with his strong viewpoints that today's children lack the knowledge of their own Indian culture and values.  Children are the future of our country and the journey from a boy to a man is influenced by many people around him like his parents, school teachers, friends and most impactful one - Cinema. A young toddler has the most broadest vision as it is ready to think beyond any limits. The content which prevail currently make a child go away from his own culture and allows him to grab values of other countries. Kid's today are aware about foreign superheroes like Batman, Superman, Spiderman etc but little do they know about our Indian heroes who were in Mahabharat or Ramayan. These days younger lots feel talking or believing in our own culture is like an uncool thing. Therefore an act is strongly required to condemn our today's generation from being under the influence of west and this act should jointly be in effort with our directors, writers, distributors and all those who are behind the camera. Need of good content and creative people have to be recognized and  encouraged to make such kind of films which will educate our children. Recalling an incident, the director adds that once he had asked a MBA graduate student whether she was aware who was the father of lord Rama and the student didn't have any answer. The incident left a big thought in the director's mind that how the generation is lacking the knowledge of their own superheroes which are in large numbers in our vast history.

Concluding the discussion on a positive note, the director shared that Whistling Woods has already initiated their bit in educating the youth by introducing creative art (dance, drama, poetry) in 110 CBSE schools and the number is still on counting. He ended by supporting a strong statement made from his co-panelist Nishit Takia that after Make in India we strongly need one 'Make an Indian'

Frame Your Idea has 3000+ meetings at FICCI FRAMES 2016

‘Frame Your Idea’ holds over 3000 meetings between idea owners and content producers at FICCI FRAMES
The biggest content pitch in India!

MUMBAI, Aril 1, 2016: After the resounding success of 2015, Frame Your Idea (FYI) under the aegis of FICCI FRAMES created an even greater access to content producers for those with a creative spark and the burning desire to achieve success in celluloid but no access to makers.

Across the 3 days of FYI, over 3000 meetings fructified between 300 writers/idea owners & over 70 producers /studios/broadcasters as a part of the happenings at FICCI FRAMES 2016.

These 3000 meetings were across the categories of Film, Animation, TV,  Documentary and the newly added Digital & Finished Content.

The 70 or so FYI panelists consisted of content teams of producers, directors, studios, broadcasters and content aggregators, looking for that next big idea, story, script or finished content that they would want to grab and put out there.

In 2015, FICCI conceived and executed this ‘first of its kind’ forum in India called ‘Frame Your Idea’ (FYI) with the intention to create access for creative minds to pitch their ideas, stories or scripts to best content producers.

The forum was unveiled in 2015 at the 16th edition of FICCI FRAMES, an annual event of FICCI, which serves as a vital link between the media & entertainment industry and the policy makers.

Last year, out of the 650 meetings that were accomplished between 200 idea owners and 20 content producers (producers/broadcasters/studios), Mr. Siddhanta Ashdhir, an Engineer turned Writer/Entrepreneur and Mr. Nihit Bhave, a former  journalist, were signed as screenplay writers by a leading Studio & a heavyweight producer. DISNEY/UTV and Phantom Films were the two players which spotted and picked up the two fresh writers.

In 2016, with the hint of international participation of creative minds (Turkey, Nigeria, USA) and of course all parts of India FYI with its figures makes itself the only platform in the country of its kind & scale.

FICCI FRAMES 2016 - Govt is keen to promote media and entertainment industry

MUMBAI, 1 April 2016
: The Government of India was making a conscious effort to move towards less regulation of the media and entertainment industry and was encouraging auto regulation by industry, said Mr. Sunil Arora, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting at a keynote session on ‘Making India a Global M&E Hub’  on day three of FICCI FRAMES.

Mr. Arora said that the industry had time and again raised the issue of clearances. Hence the government was easing and liberalizing the process of security clearances to allow greater flexibility for the film fraternity. Speaking about the FM auctions, he said after the successful auction last year, a  new set of rules have been submitted to the Cabinet for the next phase of FM radio auctions.

Underlining the challenges for making India a global M&E hub, Mr. Arora said that the theatre density of the country left a lot to be desired. There was a need to increase the number of theatres in the country. On the taxation side, he said that the levies would be rationalized automatically once the GST is in place.

Raising the issue of lack of domestic manufacturing of set top boxes, Mr. Arora said that the electronics industry needs to play a critical role in stepping up the production of set top boxes in India. Currently, in India less than 10 per cent set top were being manufactured domestically.

Mr. Arora said that that the government was committed to digitization and was moving towards it. The National Film Archives of India was working towards safeguarding the heritage of Indian cinema and was in the process of digitizing more than 1000 films.

Mr. Arora said that the government was setting up a Film Facilitation Office for enabling the industry and government in tandem. To promote the media and entertainment industry in the states, a new award ‘Most Film Friendly State’ had been conceived. He added that this year, Gujarat would be felicitated with the newly created award.

Highlighting the initiatives of the government to promote the media and entertainment industry in the country, Mr. Arora said that a Centre of Excellence for Animation, Visual Effects and Gaming was coming up at the Film City in Maharashtra besides a National Film Museum and Permanent National Photo Gallery.

Mr. Uday Shankar, Chairman, FICCI’s M&E Committee and CEO, STAR India and Mr. Ramesh Sippy, Co-Chairman, FICCI Media & Entertainment Committee, also shared their views.

India needs an Act to regulate kids’ content; provide parenting guidelines

Essential for broadcasters and kids content creators to develop content that balances education and entertainment

MUMBAI, 31 March 2016: To develop and improve the mind set of citizens it was of utmost importance that children were exposed to responsible entertainment and education. Right kind of education was more important than Right to Education. Children consists one-third of India’s population, hence it becomes critical for broadcasters and content creators to develop content which adds value and balances education and entertainment. Therefore, India needs an Act that regulates and monitors the content viewed by children as they are the future citizens of the country. The Act should also provide parenting guidelines.

This was stated by eminent media and entertainment industry veterans at a session on ‘India needs a kids content Act’ on day two of FICCI FRAMES. The kids programming in India needs customization and original content. An effective Act will ensure the largest kids population that India has gets the right content, education through entertainment and save the Indian cultural values and ethos by bringing in the right balance between the foreign content and Indian content.

Mr. Subhash Ghai, Film Maker, said for children to grow as real architects of the nation it was essential that they received extensive and in-depth knowledge about their culture and values. He pointed out that the state of education in India was mediocre and there were many great Indian stories that could be explored for creating content for kids.

Mr. M Srinivasan, Founder, GEAR Education, said that the personality of child develops in the first 10 years and it becomes essential that they were exposed to quality content. Hence, some regulations were needed to ensure that kids received quality exposure. He added that a comprehensive guideline for parents was also needed as the ambience of a child created his/her character.

Mr. Rajiv Chilaka, Creator of Chhota Bheem, said that there were 630 million kids below the age of 16 years in India and kids’ content creators needed to add value to their properties. He suggested that to reach kids in the rural areas, there was a need for a dedicated channel like Doordarshan Kids as these regions may not have access to cable TV.

Mr. Mukesh Khanna, Chairman, CFSI, said that non-Indian content was being viewed by children as producers were scared to make products for kids as they were bound to lose money. Therefore, a regulation was needed that could encourage producers to develop original content for kids.

Citing the example of the film Baahubali, Mr. Nishith Takia, Producer, Delhi Safari, said that Indian content can be successful. Today children have lost respect for their own culture   and the need was to promote kids content which was rich in Indian values. He added that kids must be taught to value their heritage and they should not be ashamed of their roots.

Ms. Nina Jaipuria, EVP & GM Sonic & Nickelodeon India, Viacom 18 Media Pvt. Ltd., said that when Viacom ventured into the kids segment, 100 per cent content was from overseas but today almost 65 per cent content was Indian. She added that with digitization sharper segmentation has taking place which is helping in reaching more kids as well.

The moderator of the session was Mr. Ashish Kulkarni, Chairman, FICCI Animation & Gaming Forum
