Singers Sumeet Tappoo, Salim Merchant, Talat Aziz, Anup Jalota & Shaan Mukherjee have come together to help and support children in the interior regions on the border of Karnataka and Kerala
The tribal region is virtually inaccessible by Government authorities and infrastructure in these areas is so poor that the residents are devoid of electricity, let alone proper education or awareness of the outside world.
An organisation by the name of SaiTribe, founded by Mr Thulasidharan Nair, and inspired by the Divine Spiritual leader Sri Sathya Sai Baba, began to serve these grossly underprivileged communities by providing food supplies, medical assistance and purified water. However, there was a need to provide much needed education especially to the children who were many in number. The volunteers of SaiTribe needed technical supplies such as laptops and projectors to fulfil the need.
A spokesperson for the SaiTribe stated that he contacted Mumbai-based singer Sumeet Tappoo who then found support from Salim Merchant, Talat Aziz, Anup Jalota & Shaan Mukherjee and with their contribution, were able to provide the much needed assistance which will help SaiTribe educate the residents and children in these regions.
The sad reality of this scenario is that the Government and the concerned authorities are unable to prove their correct identity of the people in the Tribal regions. Their classifications are neither Kannada or Malayali and hence a lack of identity makes it impossible for them to vote. Thus, politicians are least interested to look at the needs of the people of this region and the simple neglect has resulted in a lack of facilities, infrastructure or education for them.
The initiative by the singers to help will go a long way towards building a brighter future for the residents and especially the children of these Tribal regions.
