Gang of Ghosts - Hindi film Review

Rating: **

A haunted mansion in Mumbai is to be demolished making way for a glitzy shopping mall. The gang of harmless Ghosts of different eras and social spheres residing in this house are to be dislocated.

A remake of the commercially successful Bengali film Bhooter Bhabishyat, Gang of Ghosts comes up as mish-mashed comedy with sub-plots and undesirable buffoonery.

Some of these dilapidated disputed buildings were haunted by Ghosts who had taken shelter there over centuries. They were evicted and are homeless today. There is no rehabilitation package on offer. Politicians, media, intellectuals, civic society- no one gives a dam to them. After all, Ghosts can’t vote.

Royal Mansion is one such heritage property which is rented out for film shoots to facilitate its maintenance. A heroine faints during a shooting allegedly sighting Ghost in a mirror. A filmmaker on a reconnaissance trip to the building gets to hear of a spooky story revolving around the house.

The contemperory Bollywood celebs do have a taste for art. No wonder Hussain Kuwajerwala and Vrijesh Hirjee took off time from their hectic schedule and made an appearance for Artist Kumar Vaidya’s paintings.

Artist Kumar Vaidya’s much anticipated art exhibition preview took place in Mumbai’s much acclaimed Art Gate Gallery, known to host some top of the shelf exhibitions, on 21st March, 2014. Creating waves among the art enthusiasts and celebrities, Kumar Vaidya affirmed his presence in the art scene with this exclusive peek-a-boo into his collection.

This exhibition displayed avant-gardiste’s true talents and artistic flair giving the audience much to talk about.
As you enter the gallery, you are instantly drawn towards his work, which are splashes of colors as bright and dark as his life.

His artwork was such that it challenged your mind to think outside the box and see beyond the obvious, to not restrain your emotions, taking your thoughts on a path that has been unexplored, where meanings and preconceived notions no longer exist, a new territory of unimaginable depths and heights, letting the mind take its own journey.

Gracing this event were well known artists like Krishnachari Bose, Julius Meckwan, Suhas Joshi along with celebrities like Narayani Shastri, Hussain & Tina Kuwajerwala, Vrijesh Hirjee who were entranced by Kumar Vaidya’s unique if not slightly eccentric artwork.
