Mumbai, August 4, 2015: Director Soumitra Ranade’s Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai? (APKGKAH) starring Nandita Das, Manav Kaul and Saurabh Shukla will be raising 30 lakhs through a crowdfunding campaign on Wishberry.

The two-month long crowdfunding campaign for the remake of the cult film directed by Saeed Mirza starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil starts on August 3rd.  The money collected from the campaign will be utilized to complete the post-production, animation and VFX of the film.

Backing his decision of choosing crowdfunding to finance his film, the director of Jajantaram Mamantaram fame reasons, " Most producers want to have creative control over the films that they produce. It is precisely to avoid this situation that I decided to produce the film myself, as this kind of a film would work only with a singular vision. Crowdfunding is a very liberating way of financing your films. People who like your film get attached to it on a personal level and support the film without any conditions. That allows the filmmakers to make the film as per their own vision.”

APKGKAH which is a joint production between SoumitraRanade Productions, Templetree Motion Pictures, No Guts No Glory Films, Parashuram Productions and Paperboat Studios Pvt. Ltd. stars seasoned actors Nandita Das, Manav Kaul and Saurabh Shukla in lead roles. Though the film is a remake of the 1980 cult classic by the same name, Soumitra's take will not be an exact replica of original. This one will throw light on the modern-day crisis that our society is grappling with today. The powerful story will appeal to viewers across the spectrum.

Shourya Bajpai, the Creative Head, Wishberry says, “Wishberry provides rigorous consulting on the presentation and marketing of a campaign to make sure it reaches maximum audience, thus maintaining its 70% success rate. ”

Divulging on their crowdfunding campaign on APKGKAH, they reveal, “We are always on the look out for ideas that are edgy and unique and that's what made us pick up Albert Pinto. We need a new angry Pinto in today's context and we feel this film will bring that new perspective.”

Film synopsis:
ALBERT PINTO (Manav Kaul) leaves his house one morning without telling anyone where he is going. His girlfriend STELLA (Nandita Das), files a complaint with the police and when he doesn’t return for days, she begins to worry. What she doesn’t know is that Albert is traversing a road journey from Mumbai to Goa. NAYAR (Saurabh Shukla) who drives the vehicle, accompanies him on his mission. Punctuating their sometimes cynical, sometimes witty and sometimes devastating conversations, we see Albert’s flashbacks, a world where he and Stella try and weave a life together. Albert’s anger stems from the experiences that life has presented him – the personal injustice done to his father and the injustice heaped on a large section of humanity. It is this anger that is taking him to Goa, to settle a score that he believes will relieve him of his helplessness and enable him to lead a life of dignity and hope.

NFDC Co-production Market deadline extended

Mumbai, MH (3 August 2015) --- Owing to an overwhelming number of entries Film Bazaar now in its 9thedition has extended the deadline for Co-production market 2015 until 20 August 2015.

A platform for filmmakers with compelling South Asian stories seeking co-production, financial and artistic support from attending co-producers, sales agents, distributors and financiers from the world over, Coproduction Market is a main segment of Film Bazaar.

20 remarkable South Asian stories will be selected this year. Projects will get to pitch their film to the Indian and international film community that attends Film Bazaar with a focus on fiction features.

The pre-requisite of submission states that a film project must be an original story with a South Asian connect and must have a producer attached with 25% of the finance in place. In addition to the above the project must have scope for international co-production, distribution and sales.

Starting this year, the program has gained added leverage with the inclusion of an open forum on pitching. This activity has been introduced based on industry feedback with the intention that filmmakers should not be required to make multiple pitches during meetings.
The forum will be organised a day prior to the start of the Co-production Market and will allow selected participants to pitch their projects to noted industry professionals attending the market. This enables participants to effectively use their time during the one-on-one meetings for more in-depth discussions focused on project specific needs and negotiations.

Qualified filmmakers can submit their entries by filling out an online application here.

Film Bazaar is organised to discover, support and showcase South Asian talent and content. The aim is to boost collaboration in the realms of filmmaking, production and distribution between the South Asian and film fraternities of the world.
