TALVAR – Hindi movie review

India's most controversial case reopens this October

Rating: *****

Irrfan Khan’s performance, Meghna Gulzar’s direction and above all, its story and crisp screenplay by Vishal Bharadwaj makes Talvar a must watch film.

Talvar explores the socio-economic divides in urban India: the affluent doctor-couple, the Uttar Pradesh policemen with their regressive mindsets and rough methods of investigation, and the migrants engaged in lowly jobs. And the procedural protocol that exists in the Police System.

A high profile double murder case in 2008 in Noida, India where a 14-year old Aarushi Talwar was found murdered at her home. The suspicion pointed out to the 45 year old servant who was missing from the house. The next day his dead body was discovered in another part of the building.

Konkona Sen Sharma in Jaydeep Sarkar's short film 'Nayantara's Necklace'

National Award Winner Konkona Sen Sharma, internationally acclaimed actress Tilotama Shome and Gulshan Devaiah team up for a short film, Nayantara's Necklace directed by Jaydeep Sarkar

After wowing the audience with Ahalya, Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films returns with another gripping short which will release digitally in October
Mumbai, October 6, 2015: After the super success of Sujoy Ghosh’s Ahalya, Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films is back with their next short film, Nayantara's Necklace starring National Award Winner Konkona Sen Sharma and internationally acclaimed actress Tilotama Shome.
The film also features an interesting cameo by Gulshan Devaiah (ShaitaanHunterr & Hate Story)
Directed by advertising filmmaker Jaydeep Sarkar, (the writer of the acclaimed films, Shaurya and Khoya Khoya Chand), this dramatic thriller revolves around the friendship between two unlikely women. The drama is woven around a necklace, which is also used as a metaphor for things, which may not seem to be what they actually are. As they say, all that glitters is not gold.
The film showcases the empty spaces that exist behind the bustling lives of modern metropolises, which result in forming an accidental friendship between two completely opposite characters played by Konkona and Tilotama.
The story, told in a gripping 20 minutes, pushes even a fine actor like Konkona to come out of her comfort zone and give a memorable performance. Standing tall with her is Tillotama Shome whose performance would surprise many.
Nayantara's Necklace is a sure short winner from Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films, which has become one of the most respected destinations for short films in India.
Besides Sujoy Ghosh's Ahalya, the platform has showcased shorts made by Anurag Kashyap and Sudhir Mishra in the past, which featured actors such as Radhika Apte and Chitrangadha Singh respectively.
The platform also celebrates young and aspiring directors who like to tell an original story in a short duration and pushes them to perfect it. Short of the week is one such property under the platform, which showcases shorts every Friday made by budding filmmakers.
The 20-minute short will be released on digital platforms in October.

A biopic on Gour Hari Das, a freedom fighter who needed to establish his identity and his journey spanning three decades in his quest for a piece of paper – the Certificate of recognition for his efforts during the freedom struggle from the Government of India.

Not for seeking pension funds or other benefits, but recognition of his efforts as a teen-aged school boy who went to prison for several months for taking part in the freedom struggle during the British raj in India.

Gour Hari Dastaan is a story based on real life of an Odisha freedom fighter, Gour Hari Das who made his way through a long battle of silent war that lasted for 32 years, against his own government to prove his patriotic association towards the nation. He fought for a certificate recognizing his work as a freedom fighter which took three full decades to arrive.
