Baar Baar Dekho – Movie review

Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif’s pairing electrifies the film. Just that and nothing more.
Much was expected out of Nitya Mehra’s film. After working as an assistant director in films like Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pie’ and Mira Nair films The Namesake, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, she disappoints in her directorial debut in this romantic drama Baar Baar Dekho.
Baar Baar Dekho also marks the debut of American screenwriter Sri Rao which made news about this film which is based on an ageing romance spanning 30 odd years.
Jai Verma (Sidharth Malhotra) is a Mathematics Professor in Delhi. Diya (Katrina Kaif) is an artist who is madly in love with this handsome professor. They are about to get married when Jai scoffs at the Hindu priest at the time of their wedding about the institution of marriage.

Humshakals – Film review

Rating: **

Nine Times the fun. It isn't as promised.

Ram Kapoor is the uncle aka KANS and his nephew is Ashok (Saif Ali Khan). Ashok is seen all throught with Kumar (Riteish Deshmukh), his friend and a director in the board of their family business empire. The story is about these three characters who have their look alikes, and their look alikes too have their look alikes.

Confusing? It really is! The uncle funds an illegal research team of his doctor-friend (Nawwab Shah) who develops a potion so strong that just a drop or two in the drink of the victim, would make him think and behave like a dog.

With this weapon the uncle plans to prove his nephew of unsound mind during a board meeting and get the board vest full power of attorney on his name to grab the fortune.

The premise itself is senseless, which insults the intelligence of a common men. If it were so eary to usurp someone’s wealth, then the world would have been upside down.

Mai - If you love your mother....

Asha Bhosle plays the role of a mother suffering from Alzheimer’s. Mai is the story of an helpless mother and her ungrateful and insensitive children.. The subject is cliched, but it is Asha Bhosle’s performance which is the highlight of the film.

It is wonderful to see Asha Tai taking personal interest in this touching film where she is in front of the camera. And she has played the role of an ageing mother very naturally. This is the highlight of this film.
In Baghban we had the aged parents whose children weren’t willing to take care of them. In this film it is the 65 year old mother of three daughters and a son. The son is much involved in his personal problems that he is least interested in taking care of his mother.
The eldest daughter Madhu (Padmini Kolhapure) is the only one who cares for her mother, and then she finds out that Mai has Alzheimer’s. Madhu wants to keep and look after Mai, which is not so positively taken by her husband Subhash (Ram Kapoor) and her daughter.
If you love your mother....do not miss this film.
