PETER WEBBER Masterclass confirmed at FEST - Training Ground 23-28 June Portuga

Little over a week from FEST - Training Ground, it's our pleasure to announce the return of one of our favourite past speakers: director PETER WEBBER!

He will join Academy award winning actress MELISSA LEOGUILLERMO NAVARRO, director of photography of Pan's Labyrinth and Jackie BrownFERNANDO TRUEBA, director of Chico & Rita and Belle Époque, BARNEY PILLING, Editor Extraordinaire of The Grand Budapest Hotel, STEVEN NOBLE Costume Designer of The Theory of Everything, PETER DOYLE, Supervising Colorist of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Big Eyes, PAUL MILLER, Producer of Golden Globe Nominated Snow Angels, by David Gordon Green and GARETH WILEY Golden Globe Winner Producer of Matchpoint, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, among many others.


Peter Webber is one of the most interesting British film directors in activity.
Girl with a Pearl Earring, starring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth, marked Webber’s feature film debut in a most impressive way. The film received numerous accolades including three Academy Award Nominations, two Golden Globe Nominations, ten BAFTA Award Nominations and many others.
 
Peter Webber started his career with his short film, The Zebra Man, straight out of film school a film about sideshow performer Horace Ridler starring Minnie Driver. He then worked as a film editor, beginning his association with Girl with a Pearl Earring producers Andy Paterson and Anand Tucker on Tucker’s drama debut, Saint-Ex, starring Miranda Richardson and Bruno Ganz.

Webber was then tapped by Dino de Laurentis to direct Hannibal Rising. Based on Thomas Harris’ book of the same name, starring Gaspard Ulliel, Li Gong and Anthony Hopkins.

Peter more recently released the feature film Emperor, Starring Tommy Lee Jones, and Mathew Fox.
 
Webber is now doing post-production on his upcoming documentary Ten Billion.

Training Ground is an all in one program, as participants will not only enjoy a six day deluxe training program, but will also be able to attend the screenings of FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival, as parallel activities, having as scenario the beautiful sea-coast city of Espinho, one of the most looked for sea-coast locations in all of Portugal.

Golden Globe Winner Producer Gareth Wiley in Masterclass at FEST-TG 2014

Gareth has been working as a film producer & executive producer for over a decade. Since 2004, he has produced independent feature films including four with Woody Allen. Having persuaded the New Yorker to move his 2004 movie to London the collaboration grew until in January 2009 he won a Best Picture Golden Globe for Woody’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”. This was Gareth’s second Golden Globe nomination in four years, having been previously nominated in 2006 for his first collaboration with Woody Allen, “Match Point”.

In 2013, Gareth launched a new online film finance tool, www.screenadvantage.com . This online application makes all Gareth’s proprietary film finance tools available to the industry as a whole and has been widely praised. At TG 2014 Gareth Wiley will be hosting a masterclass on film production and financing, explaining the new tools available to producers, which are being used from student films to Oscar Winning productions. These tools are designed to help producers (who are usually much more from a creative environment) organize and present their finance plans in a way financiers can understand. In these days when raising money for films is harder than ever, this is becoming a more and more important skill.

Costume Design Masterclass with Justine Seymour at FEST - TG

Passes for the full week of masterclasses and workshops start at 59 euros

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of FEST the organization is preparing what will surely be an unforgettable edition. To ensure we run no risk of failing your expectations we keep adding new name to the long list of guest speakers that will await you this summer in Portugal next June.

After the confirmation of the return of one of the major figures in the world of production design, the Oscar winning art director Eugenio Caballero, that surprised the world of film with his breathtaking work in Guillermo del Toro´s Pan´s Labirynth, we are delighted to announce we have just confirmed another speaker.
This time around we are talking about Justine Seymour, who is coming to FEST-Training Ground to give an impressive master class on Costume Design.
Seymour contributed with her artistic vision to films like Baz Luhrmann´s Moulin Rouge, Brad Bird´s Mission Impossible II, George Lucas´ Star Wars – Attack of the Clones and Ben Lewin’s The Sessions.
Over the past three years Seymour has gained attention in her area with her original creations. She has has the chance to work with some key figures in modern cinema, such as Adrien Brody and Sam Neill, in the film Backtrack by director Michael Petroni; Jessica Alba and Luke Wilson in the vintage movie Dear Eleanor, directed by Kevin Connolly; Christina Ricci , who starred in the film Around the Block, directed by Sarah Spillane, among many others .
Currently , Justine Seymour lives in Los Angeles and she is coming to Portugal to share her experience in the film world as a costume designer, to all participants interested in learning everything about one of the less talked about, yet vital, disciplines in modern filmmaking.
