“Omerta” the closing film receives great response at the Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival


Mumbai, 18th October:
After enchanting movie buffs during its tenure, the most enthralling film festival Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival with Star gears up for its closure with the screening of Omerta by Hansal Mehta today at PVR ICON.
The red carpet was attended by Hansal Mehta, Rajkummar Rao, Kiran Rao and many more.
Hansal Mehta and Rajkummar Rao come together yet again after delivering critically acclaimed films like Shahid, Citylights and Aligarh with this new venture.
Omerta was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) which captures the bloody trail of British-born terrorist Omar Sheikh who plotted the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. It is Hansal Mehta’s second film that is screened at TIFF after Shahid.
Hansal Mehta, Director, Omerta is a recipient of the National Film Award for Best Direction in the year 2013 for Shahid. He started his career in the television industry and later ventured into movies with Jayate (1999).
The suave director-actor duo cast their spells yet again at the finale screening of MAMI Film Festival.
Rajkummar Rao said, “Hansal Mehta and I are very delighted and humbled that we get to screen our film at the closing of MAMI Film Festival. It has been a very exciting project to work on. What better platform than MAMI for its premiere.”
The Jio MAMI Film Festival is held in Mumbai – the financial capital of India is also the epicentre of the Indian film industry. Sonam Kapoor acquires the rights of ‘The Aryavarta Chronicles’

Sonam Kapoor, who is a voracious reader, has always expressed her desire to see more books being made into big screen adaptations. The actress is also associated with MAMI’s Word to Screen , that curates interesting manuscripts, that are then pitched to producers and content creators, acting as a platform for publishing houses and filmmakers to exchange creative thoughts and ideas.
The star has now acquired the rights of Singapore-based author Krishna Udayasankar’s bestseller series, The Aryavarta Chronicles,a modern retelling of Mahabharata through the novels — Govinda, Kaurava and Kurukshetra that collectively comprise the series. An amazing ‘other world’ experience. Absolutely stunning.

The existence of the ‘other world’ has been a subject of debate between the skeptics and the believers. The Final EXIT directed by Dhwanil Mehta explores this particular aspect and appears convincing to a great extent.

It is generally believed that the ‘other dimension’ or ‘other world’ always exists in our life. Made by a debutante director this film depicts layers of emotions of the characters. The audience will actually sense it throughout the film. This makes the viewer actually feel involved with the characters.

The subject of other dimension has been taken in several Hollywood films but it is for the first time that a Bollywood film delves into this complex issue. Almost every body, knowingly or unknowingly has experienced it, be in his sleep or during closed eyes or while in a trance or a state of unconsciousness and then finally at the end of one’s life.
