Old or New.. Whats your pick?

Experts say that fresh pairs and hit jodis will keep Bollywood’s cash register ringing this season

A flurry of Bollywood films with never-seen-before lead pairs will release in the next two months, while the festive season will see a bunch of big-budget films with tried and tested pairs on screen.

And experts feel that the mix will help the box office garner big revenue.

The fresh pairs include Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, who will be seen in Kabir Khan’s next, Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan as well as John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in the sequel of the hit film Welcome (2007).

Among the existing hit jodis, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in Tamasha, Ranveer Singh and Deepika in Bajirao Mastani and Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Dilwale, will be back on celluloid to recreate magic.

Talking about how a fresh pair helps a film, trade analyst Atul Mohan says, “The audience today wants everything to be new – be it scripts, storyline or the actors. A new pair creates extra interest that translates into more business.”

Trade analyst Komal Nahta adds, “The audience wants an entire package, only the hero and heroine can’t pull off a film. However, during the festive season when big budget films release, a tried and tested pair works better.”

Filmmaker Sabbir Khan, who has worked with both newcomers and hit pairs, says: “Obviously, both have their pros and cons but I get excited when a film with a fresh pair releases. However, I don’t mind watching SRK and Kajol together.”

Shashank Khaitan, who directed Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), cast actors Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan after their first hit Student of the Year (2012), says, “If a hit pair doesn’t suit the script, it can backfire. Actors are moving out of their comfort zones and there will only be more experiments now.”

Humshakals – Film review

Rating: **

Nine Times the fun. It isn't as promised.

Ram Kapoor is the uncle aka KANS and his nephew is Ashok (Saif Ali Khan). Ashok is seen all throught with Kumar (Riteish Deshmukh), his friend and a director in the board of their family business empire. The story is about these three characters who have their look alikes, and their look alikes too have their look alikes.

Confusing? It really is! The uncle funds an illegal research team of his doctor-friend (Nawwab Shah) who develops a potion so strong that just a drop or two in the drink of the victim, would make him think and behave like a dog.

With this weapon the uncle plans to prove his nephew of unsound mind during a board meeting and get the board vest full power of attorney on his name to grab the fortune.

The premise itself is senseless, which insults the intelligence of a common men. If it were so eary to usurp someone’s wealth, then the world would have been upside down.

SAIF ALI KHAN is now DENVER DEOs Brand ambassador

“COOL IS HOT” – says Saif Ali Khan, the new brand ambassador for Denver Deoderant

DENVER, a leading Brand in the space of Deodorant and Personal Care Products for Men has appointed Saif Ali Khan as its brand ambassador. Considering Saif’s carefully cultivated image of being a super dude because of his ability to ‘be cool during the hottest situations’, the brand creator, Vanesa Care found him to be the perfect personification of Denver’s brand proposition – ‘cool is hot’.
Mr. Saurabh Gupta, Director, Vanesa Care said, “By taking the cowboy route in our earlier advertising, we had already carved a unique, ‘rugged yet suave’ niche for Denver over the years. With Saif, we plan to take DENVER the next level, connecting the target group with their subliminal aspiration to be hot, because they are cool”.
As a real Cool-Hot male icon, Saif is a trend-setter and appeals to the young genre across the board. His style, charisma and attitude are perfectly reflected in new advertising approach; in Saif’s own words, “I am very particular about both the brand as well as the big advertising idea that I associate with. I loved the macho fragrances of Denver and was very excited to be associated with a brand storyline that portrays a protagonist who is ‘cool, gutsy, completely self assured and supremely confident of his magnetic appeal to the opposite sex. The shoot was challenging, yet great fun!”'

Vanesa Care, the manufacturer of DENVER is a fully integrated manufacturing company with a dynamic mix of R&D, manufacturing, marketing and retailing. The company has cutting-edge, world class infrastructure and produces a wide range of quality Deodorant Perfume Sprays and other Personal Care Products for men.
A judicious mix of proprietary fragrance formulations based on consumer preferences, along with aggressive marketing and cut-through-the clutter communication has made Denver a top draw with the ambitious male youth of the country.
