Gauraiya – hindi movie review

Shefali is writing a book on Dacoits of Chitrakoot as she is has taken up the issue of crime and the atrocities hurled towards its victims.
This offbeat film is based on true incidents with an imaginary story portrayal of a desert area somewhere in Patna in North India, a place of the poor and downtrodden people who are victimized by dacoits.
Shefali travels all the way to the hinterland and meets a downtrodden and sexually exploited woman Gauraiya from a village named Harijanpur which is situated in the backward area of Patna. She had kept the title of the book as END OF CRIME.
It was child marriage for Gauraiya when she was a little girl was married by the elders in the village to a boy Sukhna. As per their traditions, the child couple did not have her final wedding (Gauna) rituals. It is only when the children cross their teens, they are finally wedded.
Gauraiya narrates her tragedy to Shefali as to how and why she became a bonded labourer in the hands of Tendu Leaf contractor Kali Patel for the simple reason as she had to pay off the her father’s debt.

The Love is Forever – Hindi movie review

A girl from the rich and affluent Chaudhary family falls in love with a boy from a middle class family. The girl’s father disapproves her falling in love with this ordinary boy, and hence wants her to get married to a boy in a rich family.

Love is a universal feeling and the whole world revolves around this magical word. It is very rare to come across “true” love whichremains forever in your minds, thoughts & memories.
Two youngsters based in a rural town of India experience love for the first time but destiny has other plans for them. The film takes you through lots of ups and downs in the lives of these lovers…but will they win against all odds?
What is interesting in this film is that the girl falls in love with the melodious tunes on the flute played by the boy who has all the time in the world to sit in the jungle and play his tunes.
An unwanted character springs up now and then enquiring about his identity.
Overall, it is just a mediocre film with gaudy make-ups, lighting and the flashy colours of the upholstery. Even Rana Jung Bahadur could not save this film.

Old or New.. Whats your pick?

Experts say that fresh pairs and hit jodis will keep Bollywood’s cash register ringing this season

A flurry of Bollywood films with never-seen-before lead pairs will release in the next two months, while the festive season will see a bunch of big-budget films with tried and tested pairs on screen.

And experts feel that the mix will help the box office garner big revenue.

The fresh pairs include Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, who will be seen in Kabir Khan’s next, Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan as well as John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in the sequel of the hit film Welcome (2007).

Among the existing hit jodis, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in Tamasha, Ranveer Singh and Deepika in Bajirao Mastani and Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Dilwale, will be back on celluloid to recreate magic.

Talking about how a fresh pair helps a film, trade analyst Atul Mohan says, “The audience today wants everything to be new – be it scripts, storyline or the actors. A new pair creates extra interest that translates into more business.”

Trade analyst Komal Nahta adds, “The audience wants an entire package, only the hero and heroine can’t pull off a film. However, during the festive season when big budget films release, a tried and tested pair works better.”

Filmmaker Sabbir Khan, who has worked with both newcomers and hit pairs, says: “Obviously, both have their pros and cons but I get excited when a film with a fresh pair releases. However, I don’t mind watching SRK and Kajol together.”

Shashank Khaitan, who directed Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), cast actors Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan after their first hit Student of the Year (2012), says, “If a hit pair doesn’t suit the script, it can backfire. Actors are moving out of their comfort zones and there will only be more experiments now.”

Aditya Pancholi's near escape from being burnt!

They say you should never play with fire lest you want to burn your fingers. But Aditya Pancholi is one actor who remains completely unperturbed by it.

The actor is such a meticulous performer that in a bid to get a scene right he ended up burning his hands literally!

Recently, when he was shooting for an emotional scene with Krutika Gaekwad for his upcoming film Lakhon Hain Yahan Dilwale, Aditya went ahead shooting for a scene despite knowing that it was burning his hands.

The sequence was such that he had to put camphor (kapoor) in a plate, and while doing that the flames grew big and the plate was becoming hotter.

Producer-director Munnawar Bhagat asked Aditya to take a break but the latter asked the cameraman to keep rolling. The moment the scene got Okay-ed by the director, Aditya screamed in pain and realised he burnt his entire palm owing to the hot plate.

Such painstaking efforts! We can't wait to see Aditya's performance in this film! What about you?

Jennifer Lawrence escapes death scare while shooting

Jennifer Lawrence, the Oscar winning star of Hunger games franchise escaped a death scare while shooting for her upcoming film "The Hunger Games- Mockingjay part- 2"

Jennifer was all ready to shoot for her next lined up sequence, wherein is she was supposed to swim with her Archery kit. The kit weighed around 12-15 kilos and as soon as Jennifer jumped into the water, it's weight pulled Jennifer down, making it difficult for her to swim upstream.

However, strict security measures were in place and alert security personnel dived into the water and pulled Jennifer up, averting a very lethal situation.

Later on the makers arranged for a dummy kit only for that particular shot, as they didn't want to take any risks further and the shoot progressed smoothly.

It's trailer has already garnered a lot excitement among the fans.

Phantom to prove that Kabir has action in his DNA

Filmmaker Kabir Khan has action in his DNA. About the challenges of shooting the action sequences in Phantom, he says, “The Film is has been shot all over the world right from Beirut, Canada, Chicago, Punjab and Kashmir."

Beirut Action Sequence

While shooting in Beirut, director Kabir Khan was aware that shooting in these strife-torn locations would be a sensitive matter.

The shooting was on a huge refugee camp created on the Syria- Lebanon border which was about half-an-hour's drive from Lebanon which happens to be a Shia Muslim area. There were about 400 locals dressed as rebel soldiers and a movement of about 25 trucks and jeeps for the sequence. Being a massive set-up it attracted a lot of attention. They used real guns for this entire action sequence.

The entire action sequence looked so real, that the army thought a real rebellious movement was going on.

The entire action sequence was directed by action director Sham Kaushal.

Punjab sequence

The filmmakers created Pakistan in Malerkotla in Punjab. A entire Pakistani marketplace was created in Punjab, which they dressed it up with posters and flags etc.

The entire action sequence was shot in the middle narrow busy and crowded lanes.

This sequence had a lot of intensive car chases and crashes scenes, which does required a lot of perfection and at most care while shooting them.

They had to go through a lot of permissions including the street shops as there were a lot of movement and security issues during the shot.

Eventually everything went well and it turned out to be great schedule where everyting ended up as it was planned.

Canada Sequence

As the director Kabir Khan had always maintained that he prefers real locations instead of relying on CGI (computer-generated imagery) because the actual backdrop adds more depth to his story. The entire crew flew down to Canada

There they did a high end real car chase sequences. It was an exciting schedule which involved cutting the edge sequence under the expert Action Director Garry who has directed a lot of movies before.

Also logistics was one of the major issues while shooting here as everything had to be put in place and arranged weeks before. But eventually all the hard work payed off.

Kashmir

Phantom was shot in north Kashmir ski resort of Gulmarg and later also shot in the south Kashmir's Pahalgam hill station.

They shot a huge blast sequence in the snows and the most difficult part was of the entire schedule was it was planned in the peak of winters when the entire valley was covered under a 10ft blanket of snow all around.

Logistically, shooting here was very difficult as everyday all the equipment’s had to be carried up and bought down at the end of the day but the enthusiasm and hard work of the locals was heart-warming.

Phantom is all set to release on 28th August, 2015.

Tanishaa Mukerji rumoured to star in ‘Abhi Nahin Toh Kabhi Nahin’

Tanishaa replaces Lara Dutta, chalks out her return to the big-screen

Mumbai, August 2015:

Bollywood and surprises go hand in hand. This time the big surprise to set the rumour mills abuzz is Tanishaa Mukerji’s anticipated addition to the starry cast of ‘Abhi Nahin Toh Kabhi Nahin’.

The family entertainer which is a dream project by producers Virender K Arora, Arjun N Kapoor and Mahesh Bhupathi, will mark Tanishaa’s much awaited return to the big screen after a gap of five years.

Rumour has it that Tanishaa joins the likes of Pankaj Kapur, Sanah Kapur, Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Virmani and an undisclosed debutant in the multi-starrer film ‘Abhi Nahin Toh Kabhi Nahin’. Last seen on the big screen in the 2011 film ‘Be Careful’, Tanishaa became a small screen rage when she featured in Bigg Boss season 7.

The film which is supposedly Tanishaa’s golden ticket to walk the Bollywood hall of fame yet again, traces the story of a father (Pankaj Kapur) and his children (Pankaj’s own daughter Sanah Kapur, Tanishaa and the new debutant).

Slated to portray a vibrant young girl in the film, Tanisha’s role has shades of a modern day girl which add to Abhi Nahin Toh Kabhi Nahin’s appeal. Pankaj Kapur's character has a zing, fun-loving and romantic angle the audiences has never seen before.

Abhi Nahin Toh Kabhi Nahin is that eyeful treat of entertainment that hits the big screens around Valentine’s 2016.
