Raman Raghav 2.0 movie review

Rating: 3.5 stars

Nawazuddin Siddiqui stands out in this dark Psychological Thriller with his brilliant portrayal of the psychotic killer of 1960s-70s.
It is generally said that evil exists in each individual on this earth with the percentage of wickedness varying from almost zero to maximum in rarest of the people.
This story is inspired by the notorious serial killer Raman Raghav (an individual) and a fictionalized version of the depiction of the gory, cold blooded murders he committed.
Ramanna uses a regular steel rod to reduce human faces to severed heads and broken skulls. He is shown as a rational human loitering around Mumbai’s underbelly – slums, where he is on the prowl for his next victim.
Such is the detail and simplicity of the character that in one particular scene, when he loosely holds the steel rod (with a bend) and while on his regular walks, he is shown losing his mind on a stray dog, which craftily escapes the psycho’s wrath.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan – Hindi movie review

Salman Khan in the best performance of his life time

Rating: *****

One of the best films of Salman Khan complemented by superlative performances by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the child artist Harshaali Malhotra.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the story of Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi aka Bajrangi (Salman Khan), who as a child was a laggard in his studies and took ten years to clear his SSC examinations which led to such a joy to his father that he left this world.
Pavan is a brahmin boy and a devout of Lord Hanumanji who has such a faith in his Lord Bajrangbali that in times of distress, Pavan leaves everything on his faith in Bajrangbali. Being an ideal person who never cheats, never had lied in his life and ever willing to help people in their troubles.

BADLAPUR - Hindi movie review

Rating: ****

BADLAPUR - Hindi movie review

A dark thriller with its unique story telling approach gathering momentum with its pace, magnificent camera work and superlative performances from Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Huma Qureshi.

Yet another spine-chiller from Sriram Raghavan who earlier made a notable revenge drama – Ek Hasina Thi (2004) and an out-and-out thriller – Johnny Gaddaar (2007). Badlapur doesn’t preach, has no message, it is just a plain thriller which has an unpredictable ending.

Talaash - Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee

An exceptional suspense thriller with an unusual narrative, unlike other edge of the seat thrillers, this one has a narrative never seen before in hindi cinema.
Talaash is an psychological suspense thriller. During the course of investigation of an accidental death of a superstar Inspector Shekhawat (Aamir Khan) experiences an inner guilt of the loss of his son.
The case turns into a life altering chase for Inspector Shekhawat when he is forced to reel under the repercussions of a broken married life with wife and come face to face with his suppressed grief of drowning of his son.
The film begins with a car accident leading to the death of a high profile star. Inspector Shekhawat buries himself in grilling the suspects, formulating various reasons or motives which lead to a dead end.
Most of the scenes are shot in red light areas of Mumbai. Talaash explores Mumbai’s underbelly like never before.
The film has accomplished actors like Aamir Khan, Kareena and Rani. Rani Mukherjee is brilliant as the grieving mother striving hard to come back to normalcy in her life. Those moments when she feels lonely and her confrontation with her husband appear extremely normal.
Aamir Khan sparkles as a cop yet again, but unlike the cop he played in Sarfarosh, he is superb in this matured role of an investigating inspector. And then it is Kareena Kapoor who plays the hooker – Rosy / Simran. Any male would die to get ‘hooked’ for a life-time with this hooker. In one word – OUTSTANDING.
